Faultline Suspension

General Maintenance

The amount of periodic maintenance is mostly determined by the amount you ride and the type of riding you do. For example: a typical 5 lap moto will not cause as much thermal breakdown as a two and a half hour harescramble. As fork oil starts to break down you will notice a change in performance. More than likely your seals will probably be contaminated with dirt by this time and you could benefit from changing both the oil and the seals. If you ride a lot, changing the oil in your forks twice a year and replacing the seals once a year would be a safe bet. Inspection of the bushings in your forks is also needed.

Shock fluid will usually last a full season. But once again it depends on the amount and type of riding you do. Polluted oil will cause premature war and shorten the life of your components.

After you have had your suspension serviced, mark your calendar six months ahead and then check your suspension at that time to see if you notice a difference in performance.

Always insist on a good quality oil with at least a V.I. number of 300 or better for your components to ensure maximum performance and longevity.
